What kind of wedding ceremony is right for you?

Whether you are single or divorced, of mixed faiths or of no particular faith, you can be married at the eighteenth century Unitarian Chapel in Whiteley Lane , Fulwood with a service to suit your needs. For us as a chapel the most important requirement is that you are truly committed to each other. You must discuss and satisfy all legal requirements with the Registrar.

You may feel that a civil ceremony is too brief and impersonal. You may not be churchgoers, or even religious in the conventional sense but, nevertheless, feel a reverence for the vows that are made at marriage and wish to express your faith in life, in one another and in your future together.

At Fulwood Old Chapel, you will find a Minister of the Unitarian Church (and lay people) ready to help you to celebrate the milestones in your life and to express your most personal promise in your chosen way.

HOW TO ARRANGE YOUR WEDDING AT FULWOOD OLD CHAPEL

The Chapel is a simple 18 th Century building. The front gardens have been adapted to permit disabled access. It normally seats about 80 people but seating can be increased to about 100.

We have an organ, an electronic piano and a CD player for recorded music. There is a loop system for hearing-aid users.

Car parking is outside the chapel in Whiteley Lane . Guests are asked not to obstruct the Chapel gateway or neighbours' driveways.

The person conducting the service will normally be a Unitarian Minister. Within legal requirements, the wording and order of service can be discussed with the Minister to accommodate your choices.

Arrangements for participation by religious leaders from other faiths can also be discussed.

Please contact the chapel (0114) 235-2213 for an initial discussion, or email an enquiry to : info@fulwood-old-chapel.org.uk

It is possible to make a provisional booking with the Bookings Secretary. You can ask questions and agree possible dates/times. Various basic details will be needed from you. You will be asked to contact the registrar and discuss a date(s) & time(s). The registrar will also discuss with you the legal requirements.

The overall cost includes the services of the Minister (initial interview, the service and sometimes a rehearsal; other agreed costs incurred being additional) and use of the Chapel. An organist can be made available. The registrar's fees are additional and paid direct. Fees on application.

A cheque for the fees due to the Chapel (payable to Fulwood Old Chapel) should be sent to arrive at least one week before the wedding date.

There is no fee payable to the Chapel in the event of cancellation but the Minister may make a charge for any expenses incurred. We do this to ensure that, in the event of any change of mind by a couple, there is no undue cost pressure to proceed with a wedding.
